The World We Want 2015 is a platform created by the United Nations and civil society to amplify people's voices in the process of building a global agenda for sustainable development.
What is the UN Development Group?
The UN Development Group (UNDG) unites the 32 UN funds and agencies that play a role in sustainable development. The group’s common objective is to deliver more coherent, effective and efficient support to countries seeking to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
The UNDG has also been breaking new ground in the debate on the future sustainable development goals that will build upon the MDGs after their 2015 target date is reached. By using digital media, mobile phone technology and door-to-door interviewers, the UN Development Group has engaged 1.5 million people in all 193 UN member states in an unprecedented policy consultation on the post-2015 development agenda.
The UN teams in countries around the world made sure that diverse stakeholders participated in the discussions, including the most vulnerable groups, women, the youth, people with disabilities, as well as all levels of the government, civil society organizations, and private sector companies.
These voices of people are for the first time in history part of the multilateral diplomatic process, creating a future global sustainable development agenda. The findings of this worldwide consultation have been analyzed in the report “A Million Voices: The World We Want.”
